Greetings Opera Cocktales Fans, Friends and Family!
Yes, my friends, darkening days have officially arrived across our fair city! The moon shines silver ink across the night sky and colors our world with light and shifting shadows. Here at Opera Cocktales we welcome this season of shadow and changing light and with it the radiant music of the classical and operatic world, ablaze with sound and color.
This month’s Opera Cocktales includes some of our favorite Verdi and Puccini arias and duets, as well as a few choice scenes from the well-loved repertoire of female protagonists making unusual choices: Bernstein’s Glitter and be Gay, (who doesn’t find those trinkets endearing) and a woman in full denial of what she feels in a dark cabaret aria from Kurt Weill. Our longtime collaborator and friend, Dwight Okamura shows his unique abilities from Jazz improv to the high verismo rep for this Opera Cocktales performance – there’s really no on quite like him!!
Soooo….Why not JOIN US!….
for an intimate journey of musical tales that illuminates the heart of our ‘oh-so-human’ experience!
We promise you a transformative performance worthy of that 2nd (or 3rd) specialty martini!!
Sit back and relax with your favorite taste sensation from the Martuni’s cocktail (or mocktail) menu while we SING for you!
Now….I ask you…What could be better than that??!!
November’s artists:
Nicole Lopez-Hagen – coloratura soprano
Jeff Jones – bass-baritone
Tristan Robben – baritone
Vismaya Lhi – spinto soprano/director
and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome collaborative pianist Dwight Okamura to those black and white keys!
